It’s hard to believe, but I’m just one week away from returning to Japan! My suitcase is packed (for now), my itinerary is mostly locked in, and my excitement level is officially off the charts. After nearly two years away — my last visit was in 2023 — it feels incredible to be heading back to a country that never stops inspiring me.
This will be my fourth trip to Japan, but it still feels brand new every time. Whether it’s exploring the bustling streets of Tokyo, discovering hidden photo spots in Osaka, or diving into Japan’s amazing food scene (yes, convenience store snacks absolutely count), I know there will be no shortage of unforgettable moments.
There’s something about traveling in Japan that always brings out my best travel energy — the mix of modern and traditional, the quiet shrines next to neon-lit arcades, and the sense that no matter how many times I visit, there’s always something new to see. It is by far my favorite place to visit.
As I double-check my travel details and make those last-minute packing tweaks, I can’t help but feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. The countdown is real, and soon I’ll be back wandering through Japan, camera ready and curiosity wide open.
Japan, I’ve missed you — and I’m ready to explore you all over again.
By coincidence, I leave for Japan on Tuesday (only my second visit there). I, too, am very excited to go, but not yet packed. While you’re there, if you see a short, dumpy, old Caucasian man, say hello to me.
