How to post while on vacation: During or after?

I am curious, how do you post content during a trip you are on? Do you wait until the trip is over to gather your thoughts, work on the media, etc. and then post or do you post while you are on your trip?

I am curious what travel bloggers do, so chime in. I feel while I’m vacation I should keep the content to a minimum and probably just focus on social media (no blog posts). I’m on vacation and should be enjoying that part of it, instead of focusing so much on content.

I also feel it’s a security risk too which makes me also reconsider posting on social media. If you are posting all over socials that you are half a world away, that kind of signals that your home is unoccupied and that doesn’t seem safe.

People post all the time, but with a long trip (and add in something international) it feels even more of a risk to post that your home is empty for an extended period of time.

So what are your thoughts? Do you relax on a vacation or does the idea/process of creating content take over a trip? Let me know which one you follow: relax and post later or just keep posting while on the move during a trip.

  1. Good question! I find I have a bank of draft posts built up that covers the first couple of weeks of being away. This also gives me time then to process new experiences while away, and to start to draft some new posts. Blogging and being on vacation don’t have to be mutually exclusive – blogging gives me a reason to observe and contemplate the new things I’m experiencing.

    1. That’s a great idea, setting up draft posts to be ready to get things started when you get back from a vacation. I have to separate the vacation and the blogging parts of my brain!
