Temple Bar is probably one of the most famous spots in all of Dublin that draws both locals and tourists, alike. Here are a few tips for you while exploring this incredible area of Dublin.
Night and day – Temple Bar is night and day when it comes to its activity. If you are looking for an early morning start and things to do, Temple Bar is not the place for you. The area is pretty quiet in the morning with bars cleaning and restocking on everything. Temple Bar starts to come to life around lunch time when places begin to open.
Temple Bar is at its best at night starting around dinner time and later into the evening when the bars become full. It’s a fun place to visit and experience when visiting Dublin. Make sure to visit The Temple Bar, Busker’s, The Palace Bar, and many others. You will find music, crowds, and plenty of beverages flowing during the later hours.
Meeting spot – Temple Bar is a key meeting spot for both locals and visitors alike. A lot, and I mean a lot, of tour groups start and end in this area. You will see the groups exploring, stopping to hear the stories from the guides and snapping up all the pictures at the same time.
So if you are booking a guided tour, you will likely come through this area at some point so make sure you know how far it is from your hotel.
Watch the prices – Temple Bar is known for having some of highest prices in Dublin (especially for a pint). A typical pint that costs around 5-6 Euros may end up costing over 10 Euros in the Temple Bar area.
And be aware, prices can go up as the night goes on, so just be aware if you are out having fun that the prices can be a little shocking if you are not prepared for it.
Photographer’s dream – Bring your camera because Temple Bar is a photographer’s dream, no matter what time of day. The bars are historic, the street art including the graffiti is incredible, and you never know who or what is going to walk through the area so have that camera ready at all times.
