Mori Tower Guide

Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills is still one of my favorite observation decks in Tokyo due to its views and price point.

Background:

The observation deck, 53 stories high, is 238 meters tall and is the 6th tallest building in all of Japan. It was opened 2003 and serves both as an observation deck and as a business building for various companies.

How to get there:

First the location makes it an ideal stop while exploring the Roppongi area. Located in Roppongi Hills, the observation deck sits around incredible restaurants and shopping, which is always a plus in Tokyo. Mori Tower is within walking distance of Roppongi Station and the Oedo and Hibiya Lines.

Tickets:

Tickets are just around 20 USD per person to visit and often tickets can be bought in combination with the Mori Art Gallery that often holds touring exhibits throughout the year. Tickets can be bought online or on-site.

Upon arrival:

When you arrive, just take the elevator, go through security and make your way to the main elevators to find your way to the top of the observation deck.

View from Mori Tower in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan.

The views from atop Tokyo Tower are incredible despite the upper outdoor platform being closed off at the moment due to some unfortunate incidents. When open, the views are incredible but be prepared for it to close when the weather turns.

From inside, the views are just as impressive. You can get great views of the sprawling city including Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and on a clear day, even Mt. Fuji. Try to get there at dusk as well to get great pictures of the lights coming to life across the city.

Exploring the area:

The tower can get pretty busy, but it’s nothing compared to Tokyo Tower or the Tokyo Skytree crowds, making an ideal place to visit and that’s also easy on the budget. Plus with the shopping and entertainment district in Roppongi Hills surrounding the observation deck, Mori Tower is a must-see when visiting Tokyo and the Roppongi area.

Make sure to visit the area, because there are a lot of great places around Mori Tower and the Roppongi area.
