How do you do this?

I would like to think I am a blogger, but in reality, I’m just a dude on the internet trying to chase a dream that is probably beyond my each. It would be easy to throw in the towel because it seems so aloof to but I want to at least throw this out there: How on Earth do you people make a living off of blogging?

Look I get it, a lot of people on here blog and write for their hobby or just for fun and that is awesome! I feel like I fit into this group, using whatever free time I have to write and share what I can, when I can. However, I am directing this blog to those who make a living at this or have been able to create content and revenue along with it. I mean, those who have stopped their 9 to 5s and doing this travel blogging for a career. How on Earth do you do it?

Anytime you read a blog or watch a video on how to create a successful blog, it is always the same. Pick a niche, get a domain, get a hosting site (and the promote it on your blog), and then write and eventually, the profits begin to roll in. I have seen this model so many times to the point that it is just simply bullshit (or they are glossing over the finer points). If it was that easy, everyone would do it. So the real question is, what is the blue print, what things do you do to get your blog get the views, follows, and then turning that into a profit?

I know the usual revenue streams are affiliate links, Adsense, sponsored ads, etc., but to get to those levels you need to have a thousand plus followers or at least 5,000 views a month which is not easy to do. Monetizing is not that simple as every video and blog post out there make it out to be. Just write, post a few blogs, get the traffic from some SEO research for key terms, and boom, the money starts to roll in. I know there is more to that, but no one even tries to explain it so I have to ask, how do people do it?

I’m like most of you out there, I work 8 to 5, have limited time at night to write and don’t live my life as a virtual nomad. Instead, I love to write, create, and entertain (while informing) but also want to see if a profit can be made from a passion. Many do it, so how is it done?

So I want to hear from you, I want to know how you have done it. I want a detailed account, a step-by-step if you can so another person can see how it was done and what steps, tools, tricks, and what you do on a daily basis to turn your writings into something more, something that can eventually bring in some kind of revenue.

So let’s here it, how is it done? I know someone out there has become successful and can help coach a person or at least point them in the right direction and provide more than just the generic stuff you find in a Google search.
